Lentil Market Shows Mild Weakness Followed by Stability in April
During April 2025, the lentil markets across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Bihar witnessed slight weakness followed by overall stability.
In Madhya Pradesh’s Ganjbasoda, lentil prices started the month at ₹5900/6150 per quintal and remained within a similar range till the end of the month. In Indore as well, large-size lentils remained steady at ₹6150/6200 per quintal.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Mahuaripur, prices opened at ₹5900/6000 on April 1st and slipped down to ₹5700/5850 by the month-end.
In Bihar’s Barh mandi, prices started at ₹6400 and stabilized around ₹6350 per quintal by the end of the month.
At the Mumbai container terminal in Maharashtra, Canadian and Australian lentils were traded consistently between ₹6200 and ₹6250 per quintal.
Similarly, at Gujarat’s Mundra and Hazira ports, slight fluctuations were seen but prices broadly remained within the ₹5900/5975 range.
Internationally, the prices for Canadian and Australian lentils also remained mostly stable, adding to the pressure on domestic markets.
Due to the arrival of the new crop, weak demand, and ample supply, the chances of any significant price rise in the lentil market currently seem low.
