New Delhi. The southwest monsoon has now reached the entire country, including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Monsoon is active in many areas of Bihar,

Bengal and Jharkhand in eastern India and heavy rains have been occurring intermittently for the last three days. Monsoon rains are also being reported in northwestern India. The sky is overcast in Delhi NCR. It is also raining in the southern states.

This year the monsoon reached the entire country 6 days before the scheduled date. This is the third consecutive year when the monsoon has covered the entire country before the scheduled time. Similarly, from the year 2011 to 2024,

it has happened seven times when the monsoon reached India before the scheduled date. Earlier, it reached the entire country on 30 June in 2005, 4 July in 2007, 3 July in 2009, 6 July in 2010, 16 June in 2013, 26 June in 2015, 29 June in 2018, 26 June in 2020 and 2 July in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

According to the Meteorological Department, the El Niño weather cycle has ended in the Pacific Ocean and the neutral phase is currently going on. After this, the La Niña weather cycle may arrive from August-

September, which is generally considered favorable for the weather and monsoon. Heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of the country during July to September 2024, which will provide good help in the sowing and progress of Kharif crops. The harvesting and preparation season of Kharif crops formally begins from October.
