New Delhi. The officials of Delhi Grain Merchants Association (DGMA) met the Secretary of the Central Consumer Affairs Department Nidhi Khare today (27 June) with various demands and issues.
Delhi Dal Millers Association President Rajinder Garg and Narela Food Processing Industry General Secretary Anoop Goyal were also present in this meeting. Various issues were discussed in this meeting.
The delegation demanded that there are many complexities in uploading the details of stock on the government portal, which should be made simple and easy.
Similarly, a request was also made to keep Kabuli gram out of the scope of storage limit and to increase the level of storage limit (stock limit) for Desi gram to 500 tonnes.
The discussion took place in a very cordial atmosphere and was useful and productive (fruitful). The Consumer Affairs Secretary gave positive assurance to the delegation.
It was suggested in the meeting that there should be a special slot of 25 metric tonnes in the railways for transporting food grains, while at present there are only two slots of 23 tonnes and 27 tonnes.
Usually, grain is transported in a slot of 25 tonnes, while freight is charged at the rate of 27 tonnes. If a slot of 25 tonnes is created, this extra transportation cost can be eliminated.
Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Department, Nidhi Khare, assured that she would forward the request of the traders in this regard to the railways.
