★ At the all-India level, rainfall between June 1–15 was 30.9% below normal, but it turned 32.8% above normal during June 16–30.

★ In North-West India, rainfall was 80.5% above normal in the second half of June and 26.3% above normal in the first half of July.
★ In Central India, rainfall remained well above normal during June–July, but dropped sharply by 59.2% in the first half of August.
★ In South India, rainfall trends were mixed – below normal in early June but 25.6% above normal in the first half of August.

★ In several regions, crops such as moong, soybean, maize, urad, and cotton have entered the flowering and pod/grain formation stages. Early-sown crops no longer need much water, but late-sown crops will benefit from recent rains.
★ Heavy rains in Bundelkhand caused damage to pulses and soybean, while Rajasthan recorded the best monsoon performance of the season.
★ Crops in North India have benefited, whereas South India has seen mixed rainfall patterns.
★ At present, it is too early to fully assess the gains and losses. The next 15–20 days will be crucial for almost all crops.
