★ To boost the production of any crop, it is essential to maintain fair and stable prices.
★ Farmers will not be inclined to grow a crop—even if it's in shortage—unless they receive reasonable returns.
★ In India, moong production is currently equal to its consumption.
★ The decline in prices of other pulses has also impacted moong.
★ There is adequate stock of moong in the central pool, so a significant price surge is unlikely.
