Myanmar introduces auto-licence system for 97 agricultural products

The Government of Myanmar has announced the implementation of an automatic licence system for 97 agricultural items, including rice and pulses. This was officially notified on 9 June.
Under the new system, exporters will no longer require prior approval or departmental review for these items. Earlier, under the non-automatic system, traders had to apply and wait for official clearance before obtaining a licence.
This change was made to simplify export procedures and boost trade activity following the recent earthquake. Now, exports of these items through seaports and border trade posts will be allowed under the automatic licensing system.
The 97 items covered under the automatic licence system include:
58 items: garlic, onion, and pulses
25 items: rice, maize, millet, and wheat
14 items: oilseeds
All these items, classified under 10-digit HS codes, will be eligible for export under the automatic licence system via the Myanmar Tradenet 2.0 platform from 15 June 2025 to 31 August 2025.
