News Capsule: Brazil – Soybean Production Likely to Increase
★ Favourable weather conditions in the largest producing state, Mato Grosso, are supporting the soybean crop. For the 2025–26 season, Brazil’s soybean production estimate has been raised by 10 lakh tonnes to 1,780 lakh tonnes.
★ Recent rainfall across north-central and southern regions has been beneficial, and further improvement in rainfall is expected. Soybean harvesting has begun in parts of Parana and Mato Grosso; however, less than 1 percent of the crop has been harvested nationwide so far.
★ In Rio Grande do Sul, soybean acreage is estimated at around 67.4 lakh hectares, with average yield pegged at 3,180 kg per hectare. Soybean production in the state during the 2025–26 season could reach 214.4 lakh tonnes, marking an increase of nearly 57 percent compared to last year.
