2025-26 Season
★ Canada’s yellow pea outlook for 2025-26 indicates exports are projected to rise to 2.5 million tonnes. Weaker demand from India is expected to be offset by stronger exports to Bangladesh and the United States.
★ Due to a sharp increase in supply and lower domestic consumption, ending stocks are forecast to reach a record 1.31 million tonnes.
★ In terms of prices, the average price is expected to be lower than in 2024-25, as values for all classes of yellow peas remain under pressure. During January, on-farm prices for yellow peas increased by $15 per tonne, while green pea prices in Saskatchewan declined by $5 per tonne.
★ The premium for green peas over yellow peas is forecast at $120 per tonne, compared to $208 per tonne in 2024-25.
★ In the United States, yellow pea production is estimated at 840,000 tonnes, up 9% from last year. Canadian exports to the U.S. are projected at 120,000 tonnes for 2025-26.

2026-27 Season (Preliminary Estimates)
★ For 2026-27, seeded area is expected to decline by 15% to 1.2 million hectares. Production is forecast to fall by 28% to 2.85 million tonnes. However, due to record beginning stocks, total supply is expected to decrease by only 6%.
★ Exports are projected to increase to 2.7 million tonnes, while ending stocks are forecast to decline to 850,000 tonnes.
★ Prices are expected to improve compared to 2025-26, as tighter global supplies may provide support to the market.
