News Capsule: China’s Soymeal Reduction Plan Raises Concerns for Brazilian Exports; StoneX Lifts Soybean and Corn Crop Forecast
★ Due to improved yields, Brazil’s soybean production forecast for the 2025/26 season has been raised to 181.6 million tonnes, about 1% higher than the April estimate. Production in Rio Grande do Sul alone is expected to reach nearly 21 million tonnes.
★ At the same time, China has unveiled a strategy to reduce soymeal use in animal feed, raising concerns among Brazilian exporters. China imported more than 70 million tonnes of soybeans in 2025, with Brazil remaining its largest supplier.
★ China’s Agriculture Ministry aims to cut soybean imports by 6.1% in 2026 and by nearly 30% by 2030. To achieve this, the country is promoting fermentation-based feed, insect protein, and alternative feed ingredients.
★ If Chinese import demand declines, Brazil may need to focus more on its domestic market and value-added soy products to reduce dependence on exports.
