★ According to the government’s year-end review, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) sold a total of 2.34 million tonnes of rice under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) through e-auctions to private parties, cooperatives, and small traders as of Nov. 18, 2025.
★ In addition, 3.17 million tonnes of rice were sold directly to state governments, state agencies, and community kitchens without e-auction participation. During the same period, nearly 3.31 million tonnes of rice were sold to distilleries for ethanol production.
★ Under the Rice Milling Transformation Scheme, the government allocated 1.0 million tonnes of 10% broken rice for sale to private parties through e-auction under OMSS for 2025–26. The government has also planned to procure 5.0 million tonnes of rice with improved milling quality of 10% broken content instead of 25%.
★ Meanwhile, as of Nov. 18, 2025, the government sold 2.4 million tonnes of wheat in 2025 through e-auctions under OMSS to private parties and cooperative organisations for the Bharat Atta scheme.
