News Capsule: Soyameal Exports Down: SOPA
★ The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) said India’s soymeal exports fell to 173,000 tonnes in December 2025 from 277,000 tonnes a year earlier. The main buyers were the UAE, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
★ Soymeal production in December stood at 750,000 tonnes, lower year-on-year. Soybean arrivals were estimated at 1.0 million tonnes, while crushing was recorded at 950,000 tonnes. Soymeal stocks at the end of December were seen at 173,000 tonnes.
★ For the oil year 2025–26 (October–September), India’s soybean production is estimated at 10.5 million tonnes, down from 12.6 million tonnes in 2024–25. Export prospects remain under pressure due to competition from cheaper alternative feeds such as DDGS.
★ Meanwhile, soybean prices have risen over the past 15 days due to lower production and modest crushing demand, with prices expected to firm further in the coming period.
