News Capsule: USDA Oilseeds & Soybean Report: Higher Output, Slight Stock Tightness Supports Market
★ According to USDA (April 2026), global oilseed production for 2025-26 has increased to 698.2 million tonnes (6,982 lakh tonnes), up from 697.5 million tonnes (6,975 lakh tonnes) in March. Production outside the US has risen slightly, while US output remains unchanged at 126.2 million tonnes (1,262 lakh tonnes).
★ Global oilseed ending stocks have declined to 145.9 million tonnes (1,459 lakh tonnes) from 146.6 million tonnes (1,466 lakh tonnes) last month—indicating slight tightness despite higher supply.
★ Global soybean production has increased to 427.4 million tonnes (4,274 lakh tonnes), up from 427.2 million tonnes (4,272 lakh tonnes), mainly due to higher output in Paraguay and South Africa. Beginning stocks are higher, but ending stocks have declined to 124.8 million tonnes (1,248 lakh tonnes).
★ Global soybean crush has risen to 369.3 million tonnes (3,693 lakh tonnes) from 368.0 million tonnes (3,680 lakh tonnes), reflecting stronger demand for oil and meal. Global vegetable oil production has also increased to 236.5 million tonnes (2,365 lakh tonnes) from 235.8 million tonnes (2,358 lakh tonnes).
★ India’s soybean meal production remains steady at 7.42 million tonnes (74.2 lakh tonnes).
★ Conclusion: While production of oilseeds and soybeans is increasing, lower ending stocks and higher crush indicate supportive market fundamentals.
