Nigella - Production is high

It sounds like the Nigella (Kalonji) market is experiencing a significant shift right now, with both production levels and demand factors playing a key role.

The weak demand in the spot market combined with news of an abundant upcoming crop seems to be pushing prices lower.

The overall forecast for 2025 seems optimistic in terms of production, but the demand side appears sluggish, especially with lower local and export activity.

It’s also interesting that while production is expected to be higher in Gujarat, there’s a slight decrease in sowing in places like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, which could balance things out a bit.

Despite the expected increased production, sources suggest that prices won't likely see a drastic fall, mainly due to lower stock levels from last year.

Do you think the market might see a turnaround if demand picks up, or is it more likely to continue its slow decline unless there are major changes in export activity or weather conditions?
