पंजाब: एफसीआई ने 10 लाख मीट्रिक टन अन्य राज्यों में चावल भेजा
★ केन्द्र सरकार की इस खाद्य एजेंसी के सामने दोहरी चुनौती है—एक ओर उन्हें चावल की मिलिंग पूरी कर उसे प्राप्त करना है ताकि पिछले साल जैसी स्थिति न बने, वहीं दूसरी ओर पंजाब के गोदामों से चावल को अन्य राज्यों में भेजकर आगामी खरीफ फसल के लिए जगह भी बनानी है।
★ मई माह में पंजाब से 10 लाख मीट्रिक टन चावल अन्य राज्यों में भेजा गया। वर्तमान जून महीने में भी एफसीआई द्वारा 14 लाख मीट्रिक टन अतिरिक्त चावल बाहर भेजा जाएगा।
★ वर्ष 2024 में खरीदी गई धान से तैयार 96 लाख टन चावल एफसीआई प्राप्त कर चुका है, जो कुल लक्ष्य का 82% है। जुलाई के अंत तक शेष चावल भी मिलर्स से प्राप्त कर लिया जाएगा।
★ इससे मिलर्स को अक्टूबर में आने वाली नई धान के भंडारण में कोई परेशानी नहीं होगी।
★ 2024 में चावल के भंडारण की जगह नहीं होने के कारण मिलर्स ने अक्टूबर में नई धान लेने से इनकार कर दिया था।
★ पंजाब के गोदामों में फिलहाल केवल 7 लाख टन अनाज के लिए जगह बची है।
★ 96 लाख टन चावल इस साल डिलीवर किया जा चुका है, लेकिन गोदामों में अब भी 60 अलख टन पुराना चावल मौजूद है।
★ इसके अलावा 100 लाख टन गेहूं खुले और प्लेटफॉर्म स्टोरेज में रखा गया है।

Punjab: FCI moves 1 million tonnes of rice to other states
★ The central food agency is facing a dual challenge—on one hand, it has to complete the milling and receive rice to avoid a repeat of last year’s situation, and on the other, it must clear space in Punjab godowns by dispatching rice to other states to accommodate the upcoming Kharif crop.
★ In May, 1 million metric tonnes of rice were dispatched from Punjab to other states. In the current month of June, FCI plans to send an additional 1.4 million metric tonnes of rice outside the state.
★ From the paddy procured in 2024, FCI has so far received 9.6 million tonnes of milled rice, which is 82% of the total target. The remaining rice is expected to be collected from millers by the end of July.
★ This will ensure that millers do not face any storage issues when the new paddy arrives in October.
★ In 2024, due to a lack of storage space, millers had refused to accept new paddy in October.
★ Currently, Punjab’s godowns have space for only 700,000 tonnes of foodgrain.
★ While 9.6 million tonnes of rice have already been delivered this year, 6 million tonnes of old rice stock still remain in storage.
★ In addition, 10 million tonnes of wheat are stored in open and plinth storage.
