Plan to Implement B60 Program in Indonesia Next Year

Jakarta. Plans are underway in Indonesia to mandate a 60 percent palm oil content in biodiesel production starting in 2027, and the necessary preparations have already begun. Currently, 50 percent palm oil is used in biofuel production there. This move will increase the demand and consumption of palm oil within the sector.

It is noteworthy that Indonesia, located in Southeast Asia, is the world's largest producer and exporter of palm oil. India sources the majority of its palm oil imports from Indonesia. An increase in domestic demand and consumption there could lead to a reduction in the stocks available for export.

To implement the B60 program, Indonesia is currently assessing and analyzing the supply and production capacity of Crude Palm Oil (CPO). The Indonesian President had previously stated that if the B50 program were successfully implemented, the government would consider the next phase—the B60 program. Since this program would require larger quantities of CPO, efforts are being made to evaluate production capacity, while the country also aims to maintain its export levels.
