Washington. According to the new report of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the total production of gram (including Kabuli) in the US is expected to increase to 8,74,444 tonnes or 193 lakh CWT (100 pound unit) during the current year (2024-25),

which is estimated to increase the production of small grain Kabuli gram from 63,640 tonnes to 82,146 tonnes and the production of large grain is expected to jump from 1,50,549 tonnes to 1.96 lakh tonnes in the 2023-24 season.

Despite this, the contribution of large and small-grain goods in the total production of Kabuli gram will remain stable at 70 percent and 30 percent respectively.

According to the report of USDA, the total sowing area of gram of all varieties and categories jumped to 5.04 lakh acres, which was 37 percent more than the area of the year 2023.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of some improvement in the average yield rate of gram due to favorable weather conditions.

The preparation of harvesting of gram crop has already started and due to clear weather, farmers are not facing any problem in it.

Increase in production will help in reducing the import of Kabuli gram from countries like Canada and Mexico in America, while it can also export it.
