Rainfall Remains Weak Since January
★ According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall from January 20 to February 23 has remained 59% below normal.
★ Rainfall has been below average by 24% in South India, 92% in East and Northeast India, 81% in Central India, and 48% in Northwest India.
★ Rainfall performance has been poor across most parts of India. However, good rainfall during the kharif season helped maintain adequate soil moisture, which benefited rabi crops.
