Rajasthan Kharif Acreage Hits 155.26 Lakh Hectares

Jaipur. In the western state of the country, Rajasthan, the production area of Kharif crops is ahead of last year since the beginning of this year because this time the southwest monsoon reached there in the last week of June instead of July, which gave the farmers the opportunity for early sowing.
The latest data of the state agriculture department shows that during the current year, the total production area of Kharif crops in Rajasthan till August 11 has increased to 155.26 lakh hectares, which is about 4.52 lakh hectares more than the sowing area of 150.75 lakh hectares during the same period last year. Compared to last year,
this time the area of grain crops, pulses, oilseeds and cotton has increased, but the area of guar has decreased. Among oilseeds, the sowing area of soybean lagged behind.

jowar area improved from 6.40 lakh hectare to 6.55 lakh hectare, bajra sowing area increased from 41.98 lakh hectare to 42.51 lakh hectare and maize area increased from 9.62 lakh hectare to 9.78 lakh hectare.
As a result, the total area of paddy and coarse grains jumped from 60.83 lakh hectare to 62.29 lakh hectare. Similarly, the production area of pulses crops jumped from 34.02 lakh hectare to 36.42 lakh hectare.
Under this, the sowing area of Moong increased from 21.97 lakh hectare to 23.52 lakh hectare, area of Moth increased from 8.58 lakh hectare to 9.04 lakh hectare, area of Urad improved from 2.97 lakh hectare to 3.13 lakh hectare,
sowing area of Chaula increased from 46 thousand hectare to 58 thousand hectare and the production area of Arhar (Tuvar) jumped from 3 thousand hectare to 15 thousand hectare.
The total production area of oilseed crops increased from 21.96 lakh hectare last year to 22.72 lakh hectare this time. Under this, area of sesame improved from 1.83 lakh hectare to 1.93 lakh hectare,
sowing area of groundnut increased from 8.59 lakh hectare to 9.78 lakh hectare and area of castor increased from 75 thousand hectare to 1.24 lakh hectare but production area of soybean reduced from 10.79 lakh hectare to 9.78 lakh hectare. Its sowing process is almost over.
Apart from this, production area of cotton in Rajasthan increased from 5.12 lakh hectare to 6.29 lakh hectare but sowing area of guar reduced from 24.89 lakh hectare and got stuck at 23.93 lakh hectare.
