Rajasthan Kharif Crop Area Up 86,000 Hectares from Last Year

Jaipur. The production area of Kharif crops in the western state of the country- Rajasthan was much ahead of last year, but now with an increase of only 86 thousand hectares, it has improved from 154.78 lakh hectares to 155.64 lakh hectares. However, compared to last year,

paddy production in the state improved from 2.90 lakh hectare to 3.44 lakh hectare, area of cereal crops increased from 61.44 lakh hectare to 62.48 lakh hectare, sowing area of pulses jumped from 34.99 lakh hectare to 36.43 lakh hectare,

area of oilseeds increased from 22.15 lakh hectare to 22.80 lakh hectare and area of cotton increased from 5.15 lakh hectare to 6.29 lakh hectare, but the production area of Guar fell from 27.10 lakh hectare last year and got stuck at 23.93 lakh hectare this time.

In coarse cereals, production area of Jowar increased from 6.40 lakh hectare to 6.56 lakh hectare, sowing area of Bajra improved from 42.50 lakh hectare to 42.60 lakh hectare and area of Maize increased from 9.62 lakh hectare to 9.84 lakh hectare.

In pulses crops, during the current Kharif season in Rajasthan, compared to last year, the production area of moong jumped from 22.54 lakh hectares to 23.53 lakh hectares, area of moth improved from 8.99 lakh hectares to 9.04 lakh hectares, sowing area of urad increased from 2.97 lakh hectares to 3.13 lakh hectares,

area of nam chola increased from 46 thousand hectares to 58 thousand hectares and sowing area of tuvar jumped from 3 thousand hectares to 15 thousand hectares.

In oilseed crops, production area of groundnut jumped from 8.59 lakh hectares to 9.78 lakh hectares, sowing area of sesame improved from 1.83 lakh hectares to 1.93 lakh hectares and area of castor increased from 94 thousand hectares to 1.29 lakh hectares, but area of soybean decreased from 10.79 lakh hectares to 9.79 lakh hectares.
