Rice prices decline, slight increase in atta and sugar
★ According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs (Price Monitoring Division), the retail prices of cereals and sugar in the country have shown mixed trends over the past year. While rice prices have dropped, the prices of wheat flour (atta) and sugar have seen slight increases.

All-India average retail prices on 10 July 2025 (₹ per kg):
Rice: ₹42.82 (₹44.84 last year, -4.50%)
Wheat: ₹31.23 (₹31.26 last year, -0.10%)
Wheat flour (atta): ₹36.64 (₹36.09 last year, +1.52%)
Sugar: ₹45.92 (₹44.96 last year, +2.14%)

Wheat: +0.29%
Atta: +0.03%

★ The sharpest year-on-year drop was observed in rice prices, which have declined by about 4.5%. On the other hand, sugar and atta prices have increased by 2.14% and 1.52%, respectively. Wheat prices have remained almost unchanged.
★ These small but steady changes continue to impact household budgets, and experts say the progress of the monsoon and Kharif sowing will be crucial in determining future price trends.
