★ Apart from this, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced procurement of mustard under the Bhavantar scheme and also declared a bonus of ₹600 per quintal for summer urad procurement through a Twitter announcement.
★ The total procurement target for chana is more than 2.5 million tonnes.
★ In some states such as Karnataka, procurement of rabi crops has already started.
★ As procurement begins in other states, prices may receive support since crop prices are currently below MSP levels.
★ This is a good opportunity for the government to build buffer stocks.
