Regina. Preparations for vigorous harvesting of new lentil crop are going on in both the major producing states of Canada- Saskatchewan and Alberta. Its average yield rate and estimated yield data will be revealed soon because the report of the government organization- StatsCan is going to be released in the next one or two days.
According to trade analysts, despite the weather being very hot in July, the quality of lentil is generally being reported to be normal but some flatness is being seen in the green lentil grain.
As the harvesting of the crop progresses, the reality of its yield rate and quality will keep coming out.
Some demand of lentil has started coming for shipment in the near months but the producers are focused on the demand of the coming months.
Some buyers who had made deals earlier are now trying to extend its period. The price of thick green lentil for delivery in the winter months has improved to 50 cents per pound while the price of small green lentil remains stable at 44 cents per pound.
The price of red lentils is being reported to be 28-29 cents per pound. Its demand has weakened a bit in major countries.
On the other hand, the price of Richley lentils in America is increasing day by day and has now reached 32-33 cents per pound. The offer price of Canadian lentils for export to South Asia remains more attractive than that of Australia.
