★ Significant Decline Observed Between October 2024 and May 2025
★ India's total soybean production for the October 2024–September 2025 period is estimated at 125.82 lakh tonnes, higher than last year's 118.74 lakh tonnes. However, total available stock has declined to 134.76 lakh tonnes (including 8.94 lakh tonnes of carryover stock), compared to 142.81 lakh tonnes in the previous year (with 24.07 lakh tonnes of carryover stock).
★ There has been a sharp fall in imports — only 0.25 lakh tonnes of soybean were imported in 2024–25, compared to 6.25 lakh tonnes last year.
★ After retaining 13 lakh tonnes for sowing (same as the previous year), the quantity available for crushing stands at 122.01 lakh tonnes, down from 136.06 lakh tonnes in 2023–24.

From October 2024 to May 2025:
★ Market arrivals stood at 83.50 lakh tonnes (down from 89.50 lakh tonnes last year)
★ Crushing volumes reached 79.00 lakh tonnes (down from 86.50 lakh tonnes)
★ Direct consumption was 3.85 lakh tonnes (slightly up from 3.50 lakh tonnes)
★ Stock held by farmers/traders as of June 1 was 22.84 lakh tonnes, significantly lower than 45.71 lakh tonnes last year

Soybean Meal Production and Consumption
★ Soybean meal (SBM) production fell to 62.34 lakh tonnes from 68.26 lakh tonnes in the previous year.

Till May 2025:
★ Total exports stood at 14.63 lakh tonnes (down from 16.41 lakh tonnes)
★ Domestic consumption for food use was 5.55 lakh tonnes (marginally up from 5.45 lakh tonnes)
★ Feed consumption dropped to 42.00 lakh tonnes from 45.30 lakh tonnes last year
★ Balance stock of meal as on June 1 was 1.49 lakh tonnes (compared to 2.31 lakh tonnes last year)

★ The increase in DDGS (Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles) usage has impacted soybean meal consumption.
★ Additionally, rising edible oil imports and weak demand for meal in domestic markets have reduced crushing demand.
