Soybean Arrivals Reach 96 Lakh Tonnes by July-End

Indore. Data compiled by Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), an important organization of the indigenous vegetable oil industry and trade sector,
shows that in the first 10 months of the current marketing season, i.e. from October 2024 to July 2025, only 96 lakh tonnes of soybean arrived in the markets across the country, which was 11 lakh tonnes less than the supply of 107 lakh tonnes in the 2023-24 season.
Similarly, the crushing of soybean also came down from 104.50 lakh tonnes to 96 lakh tonnes. On the other hand, its direct use increased from 4.15 lakh tonnes to 4.55 lakh tonnes and exports improved from 8 thousand tonnes to 10 thousand tonnes.
According to SOPA, in the current marketing season, the total availability of soybean reached 134.76 lakh tonnes with a previous stock of 8.94 lakh tonnes and domestic production of 125.82 lakh tonnes. Apart from this, 5 thousand tonnes were also imported.
Out of the total availability, 13 lakh tonnes of soybean stock was kept reserved for sowing, while the remaining 121.81 lakh tonnes of stock was available for other purposes including crushing-processing. In comparison, during the 2023-24 season,
with a previous stock of 24.07 lakh tonnes and production of 118.74 lakh tonnes, the total availability of soybean reached 142.81 lakh tonnes, while 6.25 lakh tonnes were also imported from abroad. Out of this, 13 lakh tonnes of stock was kept reserved for the next sowing and the remaining 136.06 lakh tonnes of stock was available for other purposes.
According to the report of SOPA, the production of soybean in the current marketing season was 75.75 lakh tonnes, while a previous stock of 1.33 lakh tonnes was present and 2 thousand tonnes were also imported from abroad.
Out of this total availability, 17.80 lakh tonnes of soybean DOC was exported abroad. In the domestic segment, 6.85 lakh tonnes were used for food purposes and 52 lakh tonnes for seed production and the industry had a stock of 1.17 lakh tonnes of soymeal left as on 1st August 2025. The stock of soybean with farmers, traders and millers also decreased from 27.11 lakh tonnes last year to 15.13 lakh tonnes this time.
During the first 10 months of the marketing season 2023-24, the industry had a pending stock of 1.17 lakh tonnes of soymeal while 24 thousand tonnes were imported and 82.46 lakh tonnes were produced domestically.
Out of this, 19.24 lakh tonnes of soy DOC was exported, 6.85 lakh tonnes were used for food purposes and 56 lakh tonnes were used in feed production. A stock of 1.98 lakh tonnes was left as on 1st August 2024.
