The Spices Board has issued a public notice warning individuals and firms against conducting illegal cardamom auctions. According to the notice, no auctioneer or dealer is allowed to operate without a valid license issued by the Spices Board under the Cardamom (Licensing and Marketing) Rules, 1987, and the Spices Board Act, 1986. Unauthorized auctions are deemed illegal, and strict legal actions will be taken against those involved.

The purpose of the licensing system is to ensure transparency and adherence to proper procedures in the cardamom business.

The Spices Board runs official e-auction centers in Puttady, Kerala, and Bodi Nayakanur, Tamil Nadu, and also conducts oral auctions in other states.

The public is urged to verify the list of authorized auctioneers on the official website of the Spices Board and participate only in their auctions.

The notice also highlights that unauthorized auctions are causing losses to recognized auctioneers and cardamom producers.

This has led to an increase in complaints and violations, prompting the Spices Board to take stringent measures to prevent such activities.
