It sounds like 2025 is shaping up to be a tough year for Vietnam’s rice exporters, especially considering the competition from India.
With India’s large rice surplus and attractive export prices, it’s no surprise that countries in Asia and Africa are leaning toward Indian rice. That could certainly erode some of Vietnam's market share in those regions.
Vietnam’s strategy of focusing on high-quality rice could help maintain its position in markets like Indonesia and the Philippines,
but if export volumes or income drop significantly, it will still be a challenging year. The competition from India, especially in non-traditional markets, seems to be a real hurdle.
Do you think Vietnam's focus on quality will be enough to maintain its standing, or will the overall challenges outweigh this approach?
