Tur (Pigeon Pea) Market Update
★ A large quantity of tur has been imported from Myanmar. Myanmar has had a good harvest this year, with production expected to reach 350,000 tonnes.
★ Imports will begin soon. With increased availability in mandis (markets), prices have fallen below MSP, leading to increased government procurement. This stock will later be sold to millers through tenders.
★ Due to rising imports, prices may decline further—a good opportunity for buying.
★ If prices remain below MSP, farmers may reduce sowing in the next season.
★ I-Grain India believes tur can be bought at lower prices now, and if sold in July–August, it could be profitable.
★ After August, new crop arrivals from Africa will begin.
★ The key point to watch is how much area is sown for tur. If sowing turns out to be lower than expected, the market may remain bullish between November and December.
