Prices of imported Tur in the domestic market showed an upward trend today, driven by a decline in selling pressure at lower price levels and improved procurement by pulse mills.
The market received support from increased buying at these lower price points, bolstered by strong demand. In Chennai, the price of the 'Chennai Lemon' variety of Tur rose by Rs 200 per quintal, reaching Rs 9,600 per quintal. Similarly, prices for African-origin Tur also saw an increase of Rs 50 per quintal.
Following a recent softening in prices, the selling pressure at these lower levels has eased, resulting in a relatively smaller volume of stock being available for pulse mills to purchase. Meanwhile, the trade in imported Tur has been supported by a recovery in demand from these mills.
Future demand from pulse mills will depend on the availability of imported stock and their subsequent purchasing activity. If selling at lower price levels remains limited and demand from the mills persists, prices are likely to find further support.
