Ukraine's Agricultural Product Exports Rose by 41 Percent in September

Kyiv. Despite being embroiled in a fierce war with Russia and facing disruptions to commercial shipping in the Black Sea, Ukraine's total agricultural product exports rose to 3.04 million tonnes in September—an increase of 41.5 percent over August's total shipments. Significant growth was observed particularly in the exports of grains, oilseeds, and processed food products.

According to available data, the share of grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils, and oil meals in total agricultural exports rose to 2.65 million tonnes (or 87.20 percent) in September, up from 83.1 percent in August. Food grains—primarily wheat, maize, and barley—traditionally account for the largest share of Ukraine's agricultural exports. Compared to August, exports in this category surged by 50.4 percent to reach 1.49 million tonnes.

Compared to August, wheat exports from Ukraine jumped 78.6 percent to 1.09 million tonnes (up from 0.613 million tonnes), while barley exports rose 17 percent to 80,000 tonnes. Maize shipments remained stable at the previous level of 0.307 million tonnes.

During the same period, oilseed exports rose to 0.495 million tonnes. Rapeseed accounted for the largest share at 0.429 million tonnes, a 46.5 percent increase over August. Soybean exports also rose by 24 percent to reach 36,000 tonnes. Ukraine is a major exporter of sunflower oil, which is also imported by India.
