Weekly Review – Mustard
Significant rise in mustard prices amid robust trading

New Delhi: Mustard prices recorded a sharp increase of ₹100 to ₹400 per quintal during the week of September 26 to October 2, driven by limited supplies in wholesale markets of major producing states and strong demand from traders and oil millers.
42% Condition Mustard
The price of 42% condition mustard jumped by ₹250 to reach ₹8,500 per quintal in Delhi and rose by ₹150 to ₹8,650 per quintal in Jaipur. With one or two exceptions, prices for standard-grade mustard surged by ₹100–₹400 across almost all major markets, crossing the ₹8,000 per quintal mark. In Haryana's Adampur market, the price of mustard saw a strong increase of ₹400, reaching ₹8,300 per quintal.
Haryana / MP
Mustard prices increased by ₹100–₹200 per quintal in other markets across Haryana, including Barwala, Hisar, Charkhi Dadri, and Sirsa. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, prices rose by ₹100 per quintal in Morena and Porsa, and by ₹200 per quintal in Gwalior.
Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, mustard prices also rose by ₹150 per quintal in Hapur and ₹200 per quintal in Agra. Prices in Kolkata improved by ₹150.
Rajasthan
Mustard prices increased by ₹100 to ₹250 per quintal across various markets in Rajasthan, the leading producing state. In Bundi, the price rose by ₹250 to reach ₹8,700 per quintal. Bharatpur also saw a price increase of ₹175. Government agencies like NAFED and HAFED hold negligible stocks of mustard, limiting their ability to effectively intervene in the market.
Mustard Oil
Prices for expeller and *Kachchi Ghani* (cold-pressed) mustard oil rose by ₹10 to ₹40 per 10 kg. In Delhi and Charkhi Dadri, the price of expeller oil increased by ₹20 to reach ₹1,695 per 10 kg, while in Bikaner, it surged by ₹40 to touch ₹1,710. Domestic demand and consumption of mustard oil continue to rise.
Arrivals / Mustard Cake & DOC
This trend is supporting prices; daily mustard arrivals across markets nationwide ranged from 1.50 to 2.25 lakh bags (50 kg each). Demand for mustard cake and DOC also remained strong.
