Weekly Review – Groundnut
Limited price fluctuation in groundnut due to low arrivals and weak demand

New Delhi: During the week of September 26 to October 2, groundnut arrivals remained limited in the markets of major producing states—such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra—while demand from traders, stockists, millers, and processors remained weak. Consequently, no significant surge or slump in prices was observed.
Arrivals/Prices
In Gujarat's markets, supplies totaled 5,000–8,000 bags, with prices ranging from a low of ₹6,000 to a high of ₹10,000 per quintal. Prices remained steady at ₹7,000–8,000 per quintal in Bikaner (Rajasthan), ₹9,400 per quintal in Solapur (Maharashtra), and ₹6,500–6,800 per quintal in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh), while in Mahoba, prices improved by ₹100 to reach ₹5,500–6,500 per quintal. Demand from oil millers and exporters for shelled groundnut kernels was also observed to be below normal levels.
Groundnut Oil
The price of loose groundnut oil remained steady at ₹1,700 per 10 kg in the Gujarat markets of Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar. The price of a 15-kg tin rose by ₹20 to ₹2,720. Conversely, groundnut oil prices in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad remained either steady or slightly softer. Branded Oil
Trading in branded groundnut oil was negligible in Kota, whereas prices in Jaipur and Newai saw a decline of ₹10–20 per 10 kg.
Sowing / DOC
Sowing of the Kharif groundnut crop has concluded, with the acreage reaching 50.85 lakh hectares—a figure roughly equal to that of the previous year. Demand for groundnut oil cake and DOC remained sluggish.
