UP Begins MSP Procurement of Kharif Crops Today

Lucknow. The government procurement campaign for Kharif crops, including paddy, from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in Uttar Pradesh has officially begun today, October 1, 2025.
This year, the state has set a target of purchasing 6 million tons of paddy, and approximately 4,000 procurement centers have been established for this purpose.
The central government has increased the MSP for paddy by ₹69, setting it at ₹2,369 per quintal for the general category and ₹2,389 per quintal for the 'A' grade.
In Uttar Pradesh, paddy will be procured in western mills from October 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, and in eastern mills from November 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
The procurement period for coarse grains has been set from October 1 to December 31, 2025. Under this, jowar will be procured in 14 districts, maize in 25 districts and millet in 33 districts.
It is known that for the marketing season 2025-26, the Central Government has fixed the MSP of maize at Rs. 2400 per quintal, millet at Rs. 2775 per quintal, jowar (hybrid) at Rs. 3699 per quintal and jowar (maldandi) at Rs. 3749 per quintal.
This time in Uttar Pradesh, the target of procuring 2.20 lakh tonnes of millet, 50 thousand tonnes of jowar and 15 thousand tonnes of maize has been fixed. 300 procurement centres have been opened for millet, 80 for jowar and 75 for maize. Apart from this, approval has also been received from the Centre for the procurement of pulses and oilseeds.
