Urad Sowing Analysis (Data till 7th and 9th July 2025)
★ Urad sowing sees strong growth this year, especially in Rajasthan and Maharashtra
★ Urad (Black Matpe) sowing has shown a notable increase this year, particularly in the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
★ In Rajasthan, sowing has reached 2.54 lakh hectares with a rise of 0.99 lakh hectares compared to last year.
★ Maharashtra also recorded a growth of 0.17 lakh hectares.
★ Sowing figures in Gujarat and Telangana remained mostly stable.
★ Across these four states, the total urad sowing has reached 5.67 lakh hectares, which is 0.71 lakh hectares more than last year.
★ At the all-India level, sowing stands at 5.27 lakh hectares, indicating a rise of 0.25 lakh hectares over the same period last year.
★ According to i-Grain India, urad acreage may increase further if weather conditions remain favorable, which could lead to good overall production.
★ Internationally, Myanmar has produced over 10 lakh tonnes of urad this year, ensuring a steady flow of imports.
Imports from Brazil are also continuing.
★ As a result, urad availability is expected to remain smooth, and there are limited chances of any sharp price surge in the near future.
