USDA cuts global wheat supply estimate
★ The USDA has lowered its global wheat supply estimate for 2025–26 to 1.07 billion tonnes, down 400,000 tonnes from the June forecast. The cut is mainly due to reduced beginning stocks and lower production.
★ Global consumption has been increased by 800,000 tonnes, now estimated at 810.6 million tonnes.
★ Global trade has been reduced by 1.3 million tonnes to 213.1 million tonnes, with reports of lower exports from the European Union and Ukraine.
★ Ending stocks for wheat are now projected at 261.5 million tonnes, 1.2 million tonnes lower than in June.
★ For India, the USDA has maintained wheat production at 117.5 million tonnes. However, domestic consumption has been revised down by 5 million tonnes to 112.5 million tonnes, resulting in higher ending stocks estimated at 17.0 million tonnes.
