Thiruvananthapuram. Due to the formation of a deep depression over central India, a warning has been issued for very heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh,
Gujarat and Vidarbha division of Maharashtra. Many areas of Chhattisgarh are receiving torrential rain and its havoc continues in Delhi NCR as well. Due to the moist weather prevailing in the western and central parts of the country,
the southwest monsoon will not be able to depart on its scheduled time. The date for its return journey has been fixed from 17 September but at present it is active in different parts of the country.
On the other hand, the European Weather Forecasting Center has predicted that the period of torrential rain will continue in eastern Madhya Pradesh,
south-western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal till the end of the current week. Heavy rain had also occurred in many districts of Bihar on the previous day.
A rain-laden depression is centered over northern Chhattisgarh, which is likely to cause heavy rain. Gradually it may weaken and turn into a low pressure area.
The core monsoon trough is located south of its normal direction due to which its intense activity is being seen in the western and central parts of the country.
As a result, heavy rains are expected in districts like Kota, Bikaner, Guna and Umaria. Torrential rains are expected in many parts of Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
According to the Meteorological Department, a circulation is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal by September 18, which may prove helpful in maintaining the activity of the monsoon. Rains are expected in Kerala in South India.
