Water level in reservoirs decreased due to lack of rain

The situation with the water levels in reservoirs is indeed concerning, especially as it continues to show a downward trend for several weeks.

Despite the decrease in water levels, it is somewhat reassuring that the current stock is still better compared to last year and the 10-year average.

However, the lack of rainfall, particularly in areas like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Bihar, is worrisome, as these regions are vital for major Rabi crops like wheat and gram.

The significant rainfall deficit in the October-December quarter, along with the ongoing dry conditions during the winter, has added to the pressure, particularly for farmers who depend on these crops for their livelihoods.

It's good to hear that the Meteorological Department is predicting better rainfall and snowfall in certain states, which could bring relief to the agriculture sector.

Do you think the predicted rainfall will be enough to counterbalance the current water shortage and support the upcoming Rabi crop production?
