Weather Raises Concerns: Above Average Temperatures, Rainfall Necessary
Rabi crops like wheat, barley, mustard, and pulses require favorable weather conditions. Currently, night temperatures are higher than normal, which is not ideal for wheat cultivation. For wheat germination, the ideal night temperature should be between 3-4°C, but at present, it ranges between 7-10°C.

Farmers are facing the challenge of providing extra irrigation due to insufficient moisture in the soil. If the temperature situation does not change and rainfall does not occur, the wheat yield could be negatively affected.

Wheat sowing has been higher than pulses this season, but from December to February, favorable weather conditions are crucial for crop growth. If the weather remains unfavorable, it could significantly impact productivity.

Additionally, cyclonic rains in southern states have increased the risk of waterlogging in the roots of Rabi crops, which could be harmful to the crops.
