Chana prices rise, festive demand and buying support the market
New Delhi. Chickpea prices rose this week as selling pressure at lower prices subsided and demand remained strong. Due to festive demand, buying by dal millers and gram flour manufacturers increased, supporting rising prices. If this demand continues in the coming days, prices could rise further. Due to increased buying by dal millers, Delhi chickpea prices increased by Rs. 125 per quintal this week. With this increase, prices ended the week at Rs. 5800/5825 for Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 5850/5875 for Rajasthan.
Port
Imported chickpea prices increased by Rs. 100/150 per quintal this week as importers' selling eased and demand improved. And with this increase, the prices of Mumbai Tanzania became Rs. 5450/5475, Navasheva Australia Rs. 5675/5700 and Mundra Rs. 5550 per quintal.
Rajasthan
Due to increased demand from pulse millers and stockists, Rajasthan gram prices registered a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal this week and with this rise, the prices of Jodhpur became Rs. 4900/5350, Jaipur Rs. 5925, Bikaner Rs. 5400/5600, Kishangarh Rs. 5300/5500 and Kota Rs. 4700/5250 per quintal at the weekend.
Maharashtra
Due to limited arrivals and weak selling pressure in the producing markets, Maharashtra gram prices increased by Rs. 100/150 per quintal during the current week. With this increase, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 5900/6050 in Solapur, Rs. 5000/5500 in Latur, Rs. 5850/5875 in Akola, Rs. 5875/5900 in Nagpur and Rs. 5400/5600 per quintal in Ahmednagar.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to improved demand, Madhya Pradesh gram prices increased by Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week. With this improvement, the prices at the weekend stood at Rs. 5250/5540 in Ashoknagar, Rs. 5200/5600 in Ganjbasoda, Rs. 5200/5500 in Sagar, Rs. 5200/5500 in Katni and Rs. 5800/5850 in Indore.
Other
Supported by a broad rally and strong demand, Kanpur gram prices rose by ₹200 per quintal this week, reaching ₹5900 per quintal at the end of the week. Similarly, Raipur gram prices rose by ₹100 per quintal this week, reaching ₹5550/₹5800 per quintal at the end of the week.
Chana Dal
Supported by a rally in gram prices, gram prices rose by ₹100/₹200 per quintal during the current week, reaching ₹6750/₹7150 per quintal at the end of the week. With this increase, prices at the end of the week were: Delhi (₹6750/₹7150), Bhatapara (₹6800/₹6900), Katni (₹7225), Gulbarga (₹7300/₹7400), Jalgaon (₹6900/₹7550), Indore (₹6750/₹6800), Jaipur (₹6600), and Kanpur (₹6650/₹6700 per quintal).
