Weak Demand Puts Chickpea Prices Under Pressure
New Delhi. The Chickpea market continued to remain subdued this week. Lack of demand and sluggish buying by dal millers have continued to put pressure on dal prices. The increased availability of imported dal at the port has led to panic selling, resulting in weak prices in local markets. Meanwhile, lower-than-normal demand for dal and gram flour is currently holding prices in check. Traders believe that if demand does not pick up or millers' buying does not improve, the market's weakness may continue. Due to limited buying by dal millers, dal prices in Delhi saw a decline of ₹25 per quintal this week, with prices ending the week at ₹5775/5800 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh and ₹5875/5900 per quintal in Rajasthan.
