Gram prices continue to decline due to sluggish demand

New Delhi. The gram market remained bearish this week too due to weak demand. According to information received from wholesale traders and mandis, lack of customers is continuously putting pressure on the prices of both gram and gram dal. Especially the sale of gram dal is witnessing a decline. The lack of demand from consumers as well as the government extending the time limit for duty-free pea import has had a negative impact on domestic gram consumption. Due to the availability of cheaper alternatives to peas in the market, traders have lost interest in buying gram. Due to this situation, a one-sided slowdown is being seen in the market. The business class says that until the customer base improves and there is no change in government policies, there is little hope of stability in the prices of gram. If the situation remains the same, then the prices of gram may go down further in the coming weeks. Due to sluggish demand from dal millers, prices of Delhi gram declined by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the prices remained at Madhya Pradesh line Rs. 5675/5700 and Rajasthan line Rs. 5725/5750 per quintal at the end of the week.
