Lentil prices continue to fluctuate as buying remains sluggish

Mumbai. During the current week, lentil prices remained bullish and bearish as demand remained sluggish. Due to news of damage to lentil crop in Australia, selling of imported lentils remained weak over the weekend. Due to which some improvement was seen in prices. Prices have seen an increase since the beginning of October. Large green lentils reached 16 cents/pound FOB, small 54 cents FOB. The price of red lentils is 32 cents/pound FOB farm. Due to normal demand, there was no fluctuation in Mumbai lentil prices this week and at the end of the week the price remained Mundra 5925/50 rupees, Hazira 5950/75 rupees and container 6100/6150 rupees per quintal. Whereas Kolkata lentil prices witnessed a rise of Rs 50 per quintal this week and the weekend price became Rs 6225/6275 for vessel and Rs 6325 for container.
Delhi
Due to sluggish buying by dal millers, Delhi lentil prices witnessed a decline of Rs 25 per quintal this week and with this decline, the weekend price remained at Choti Kota Rs 6550, Bundi Rs 7050, Uttar Pradesh Rs 7100 and Desi Badi Rs 6550 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak consumer demand, Madhya Pradesh lentil prices witnessed a decline of Rs 50 per quintal this week and the weekend price remained at Ashoknagar Rs 5800/5850, Sagar Rs 5600/6000, Damoh Rs 5800/6250, Indore Rs 6000 and Katni Rs 6500/25 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to normal demand, no movement was seen in Uttar Pradesh lentil prices during the current week and the prices remained stable at Bareilly small Rs. 7150, thick Rs. 6600/6625, Kanpur Rs. 6500 and Lalitpur thick Rs. 5800/5950, small Rs. 6300/6400 per quintal at the weekend.
Others
Due to improvement in demand, Bihar lentil prices witnessed an increase of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and the prices became Barh Rs. 6750, Khusrupur Rs. 6650 and Mokama Rs. 6750 per quintal at the weekend. Whereas Raipur lentil decreased by Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and remained at Rs. 6200 per quintal at the weekend.
Masoor Dal
Due to sluggish demand, no rise or fall was seen in the prices of Masoor Dal this week and the prices remained stable at Jalgaon Rs. 7500, Indore Rs. 7500, Barh Rs. 7750/8050 and Khusrupur Rs. 7650/7950 per quintal during the weekend.
