Lentil prices fall due to weak demand

Mumbai. During the current week, lentil prices declined due to increased selling pressure and weak demand. Due to availability in the producing markets and weak lifting of lentil dal, the buying of lentil by millers has remained limited, due to which there is pressure on prices. Low storage of pulses in the country: Only 49% of the buffer stock target is available. The stock of lentil is 6 lakh tonnes, while 10 lakh tonnes is required. Due to increased selling by importers and slow buying, imported lentil prices saw a decline of Rs 50 per quintal this week and at the weekend the price remained Mundra Rs 59005925, Hazira Rs 5950/5975 and container Canada Rs 6150 and Australia Rs 6150/6200 per quintal. Similarly, prices of Kolkata lentil also witnessed a fall of Rs. 25/50 per quintal this week and the prices remained at Canada 6050 Rs. and Australia 6050 Rs. per quintal at the end of the week.
Delhi
Due to slow buying by dal millers and stockists, prices of Delhi lentil witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this fall, the prices remained at Choti Kota 6375 Rs., Bundi 6625 Rs., Uttar Pradesh 6725 Rs. and Desi Badi 6575 Rs. per quintal at the end of the week.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to sluggish buying by stockists and dal millers, prices of masoor in Madhya Pradesh registered a decline of Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week too and with this decline the prices at the weekend remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 6000/6100, Bina Rs. 5950/6150, Sagar Rs. 5800/6000, Damoh Rs. 5750/6200, Indore Rs. 6050/6150, Kareli Rs. 4000/6430 and Katni Rs. 6500 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to increase in selling and slow buying, during the current week, the price of lentil in Uttar Pradesh fell by Rs. 50 per quintal and the price at the weekend remained Bareilly Chhoti 6900/6950 Rs., Moti 6500 Rs., Kanpur 6400 Rs., Lalitpur Moti 5800/5950 Rs., Chhoti 6175/6200 Rs. and Orai 5700/5950 Rs. per quintal.
Others
Due to improvement in demand, the price of lentil in Bihar fell by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and the price at the weekend remained Barh 6350 Rs., Khusrupur 6250 Rs. and Mokama 6350 Rs. per quintal. While the price of Raipur lentil also fell by Rs. 100 per quintal this week and remained at Rs. 6200 per quintal at the weekend.
Masoor Dal
Due to weak demand, prices of Masoor Dal witnessed a fall of Rs. 50 per quintal during the current week and the prices remained at Rs. 7400/7450 for Indore, Rs. 7300/7600 for Barh and Rs. 7200/7500 for Khusrupur per quintal at the weekend.
