Mumbai: Masoor prices trended upwards this week, driven by subdued selling pressure and improved demand. Limited market availability has spurred buyer activity at both lower and current price levels, providing consistent support to prices. Arrivals in producing markets remain restricted. With relatively weak fresh selling in the mandis, pressure on existing stocks has eased. Meanwhile, increased inquiries from dal millers have accelerated buying activity; millers are purchasing according to their requirements, thereby strengthening the demand base amidst low arrivals. However, buying interest is not overly aggressive at current high price levels, limiting the likelihood of a one-sided rally for now. Nevertheless, low domestic arrivals, limited selling, and improving demand remain positive indicators for the Masoor market. Prices of imported Masoor rose by ₹75–100 per quintal this week due to reduced selling by importers and increased buying; by the weekend, rates stood at ₹5,700–5,750 for Mundra Canada Masoor, ₹5,850 for Hazira, ₹6,100–6,150 for Container Canada, and ₹6,150 per quintal for Australian Masoor.

Increased buying by dal millers led to a rise of ₹50 per quintal in Delhi Masoor prices this week. By the weekend, rates stood at ₹7,700 per quintal for 'Chhoti Kota', ₹8,500 for 'Bundi', ₹8,900 for 'Uttar Pradesh' variety, and ₹6,900 for 'Desi Badi'.

Due to sluggish buying and selling activity, Masoor (red lentil) prices in Madhya Pradesh saw fluctuations of ₹100 per quintal this week. By the weekend, prices stood at: Ashoknagar ₹5,800–₹6,200; Bina ₹6,200–₹6,500; Ganjbasoda ₹6,000–₹6,400; Sagar ₹6,000–₹6,250; Damoh ₹5,900–₹6,350; Indore ₹6,100; Kareli ₹5,500–₹6,845; and Katni ₹6,550–₹6,600 per quintal.

With buying and selling remaining sluggish, no price fluctuations were observed for Masoor in Uttar Pradesh during the current week. Weekend prices were: Bareilly (Small) ₹10,100, (Bold) ₹6,800–₹6,850; Lalitpur (Bold) ₹6,200–₹6,300, (Small) ₹8,800–₹9,200; and Orai ₹5,900–₹6,300 per quintal.

Due to weak demand, Masoor prices in Bihar remained unchanged this week; weekend prices stood at Barh ₹7,100, Khusrupur ₹7,000, and Mokama ₹7,100 per quintal. Meanwhile, Raipur Masoor prices saw a softening of ₹50 per quintal, settling at ₹6,500 per quintal by the weekend.

Due to sluggish consumer demand, no significant price fluctuations were recorded for Masoor Dal during the week. Weekend prices stood at: Indore ₹7,100–₹7,250; Barh ₹7,900–₹8,100; Khusrupur ₹7,800–₹8,000; Mokama ₹7,900–₹8,100; Chandausi ₹8,700; and Hyderabad ₹7,550 per quintal.
