Decline in Moong Prices Due to Lack of Demand

New Delhi: The prices of moong have witnessed a decline this week due to sluggish demand from dal millers and the continued availability of moong in producing markets. The passing of tenders at low prices by NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) has further contributed to the weak demand. As a result, the buying by millers has remained limited, causing a price drop of Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 per quintal in Delhi. The price at the end of the week ranged between Rs. 6800 to Rs. 7350 per quintal.

Rajasthan: In Rajasthan, despite a continued low supply, the lack of demand from buyers caused a fall of Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 per quintal. The prices in various mandis are as follows:

  • Jodhpur: Rs. 6000/7150
  • Jaipur: Rs. 6500/7200
  • Sumerpur: Rs. 5500/7200
  • Nagaur: Rs. 7000/7750
  • Merta: Rs. 6500/7600
  • Kishangarh: Rs. 5500/7000

Madhya Pradesh: In Madhya Pradesh, moong prices remained stable due to lack of significant demand changes. Prices remained steady throughout the week:

  • Pipariya: Rs. 5500/7500
  • Indore: Rs. 7500/8000
  • Kareli: Rs. 5000/5700
  • Jabalpur: Rs. 6500/7600

Karnataka: Weak buying by dal millers in Karnataka led to a fall in prices by Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 per quintal, with prices ending the week as follows:

  • Gulbarga: Rs. 4500/8100
  • Bidar: Rs. 6698/8539
  • Hubli: Rs. 4645/6510
  • Yadgir: Rs. 7366/7600
  • Gadag: Rs. 5519/7619

Maharashtra: There was no significant movement in the prices of moong in Maharashtra this week due to sluggish demand. The prices remained stable at the following levels:

  • Solapur: Rs. 7200/8400
  • Latur: Rs. 6000/8000
  • Akola: Rs. 6550/8750
  • Barshi: Rs. 6500/7500
  • Ahmednagar: Rs. 6500/7900
  • Dudhani: Rs. 6500/7500

Others: In Lalitpur, the price of moong declined by Rs. 100 per quintal, ending the week at Rs. 5500/6500 per quintal due to the overall weak demand.

Moong Dal Prices: Moong dal prices also followed the trend of decline due to sluggish demand. The price dropped by Rs. 100 to Rs. 200 per quintal, ending the week at the following levels:

  • Delhi: Rs. 9550/11750
  • Jodhpur: Rs. 9100/9300
  • Jaipur: Rs. 9200
  • Bhatapara: Rs. 9900
  • Jalgaon: Rs. 9900
  • Indore: Rs. 9400/10500

This week’s review highlights the continued weak demand across various regions, which has resulted in price reductions for both moong and moong dal.
