New Moong Arrivals Increase, Prices Fall Due to Sluggish Demand and Poor Quality
The moong market witnessed a weak trend during the current week. Prices remained under pressure due to increased arrivals of new moong in producing markets and sluggish demand. Continuous heavy rainfall in major producing states like Maharashtra and Rajasthan has damaged the harvested crop and affected its quality. Currently, the markets are seeing a high inflow of tainted and substandard goods, while the supply of high-quality moong is extremely limited. In light of this situation, stockists and pulse millers have refrained from purchasing, leading to a lukewarm buying situation and weak prices. Until quality improves and consumer demand picks up, there is little chance of stability in moong prices. Due to weak buying by pulse millers, Delhi mung bean prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal during the current week, bringing the prices to Rs 7400/7500 per quintal in Madhya Pradesh and Rs 7300/7400 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh.
Rajasthan
Recent heavy rains in several major agricultural areas of Rajasthan have caused significant damage to the mung bean crop. In areas such as Merta, Jodhpur, Kota, Kishangarh, and Kekri, waterlogging and weather damage are damaging crops. This is having a direct impact on local markets, where the inflow of low-quality goods is currently the highest. Due to sluggish demand, the prices of moong in Rajasthan declined by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week, and with this decline, the prices remained at Jodhpur Rs. 4500/4500, Jaipur Rs. 6900/7600, Merta Rs. 3000/8000, Nagaur Rs. 5500/7700 and Kishangarh Rs. 1500/6800 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased selling and weak buying, the prices of moong in Madhya Pradesh declined by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week, and the prices remained at Pipariya Rs. 4500/7700, Indore Rs. 7500/8000, Jabalpur Rs. 5000/7500 and Harda Rs. 5700/8400 per quintal at the weekend.
Maharashtra
Due to increased selling pressure and slow buying, Maharashtra moong prices declined by ₹100/₹200 per quintal during the current week, and at the weekend prices were ₹4000/₹10000 in Latur, ₹6200/₹8800 in Akola, ₹5500/₹8700 in Barshi, ₹6000/₹8000 in Ahmednagar, ₹7000/₹9600 in Jalgaon, and ₹4800/₹7500 per quintal in Khamgaon.
Other
Due to weak buying, Lalitpur moong prices declined by ₹100 per quintal, reaching ₹6200/₹7200 per quintal at the weekend. Meanwhile, Rajkot moong prices remained flat at ₹6500/₹7500 per quintal at the weekend.
Moong Dal
Due to sluggish demand, there was no change in the prices of Moong Dal during the current week and the prices remained at Rs. 9850/11850 in Delhi, Rs. 9600/9650 in Jodhpur, Rs. 9000/9000 in Jaipur, Rs. 9000 in Bhatapara, Rs. 9600/9800 in Jalgaon and Rs. 9700/9800 in Indore per quintal at the weekend.
