Mustard Prices Improve Due to Strong Demand from DOC
New Delhi. Demand for Indian mustard meal (rapeseed meal) remains strong in China, while mustard oil prices remain elevated in the domestic market. Consequently, crushing units are showing significant interest in purchasing mustard. On the other hand, due to the off-season supply, mustard arrivals in the markets are relatively low. Consequently, mustard prices increased by ₹100-₹200 per quintal in key markets across major producing states during the week of November 8-10. Mustard prices in Kota, Rajasthan, rose sharply by ₹400 to reach ₹6000/₹6800 per quintal.
42% Conditioned Mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42% conditioned mustard increased by ₹100 to ₹7100 per quintal in Delhi and ₹25 to ₹7300 per quintal in Jaipur.
Mustard
The price of ordinary average quality mustard seed increased by ₹150 in Deesa, Gujarat, ₹200 in Sirsa, Haryana, ₹100 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, ₹75 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, and ₹200 per quintal in Kolkata, West Bengal. In Rajasthan, the leading producer, mustard seed prices rose by ₹100 to ₹6,200/₹6,400 per quintal in Bundi, while prices remained somewhat flat or stable in other markets.
Mustard Oil
During the week under review, prices saw some improvement as mustard oil returned to normal. Expeller oil prices remained stable at ₹1,460 per 10 kg in Delhi, while in Mumbai, they rose by ₹60 to ₹1,520 and in Ludhiana, they rose by ₹30 to ₹1,470 per 10 kg. Crude mustard oil prices also improved slightly. The pace of mustard seed arrivals in major wholesale markets has slowed somewhat.
Mustard Cake (DOC)
Prices for mustard DOC have risen by ₹1,000 per tonne due to strong demand, and mustard cake prices have also risen by ₹30 to ₹80 per quintal. Mustard sowing is currently underway in major producing states, including Rajasthan.
