Limited rise and fall in the price of paddy and rice amid normal business
New Delhi. There is limited arrival of paddy in various markets of North India and the demand from millers and exporters is not much.
Delhi
Although there was good arrival of paddy in Delhi's Narela Mandi during the week of 19-25 April, still the prices improved by 25-50 rupees per quintal. On the other hand, the price of paddy softened by 60 rupees in Rajim Mandi of Chhattisgarh with daily arrival between 700-1500 bags. Almost similar situation prevailed in Mainpuri of Uttar Pradesh where the price of paddy declined by 50 rupees per quintal amid arrival of 400-500 bags.
Arrival
But there was good buying of paddy in Shahjahanpur. There, the daily arrival of paddy was between 1000 to 2000 bags, while the price of 1121 increased by Rs 200 and that of 1509 by Rs 100. PR 26 also improved by Rs 50. Paddy also arrived in Aligarh and Dibai Mandi, but due to sluggish business, the price remained stable.
Rajasthan
There is a good supply of paddy in Bundi and Kota Mandi of Rajasthan. During the week from 19 to 25 April, daily arrival of 10-15 thousand bags of paddy was seen in Bundi Mandi and 5-6 thousand bags in Kota Mandi. The price remained almost stable in Kota, but the price of 1509 in Bundi increased by Rs 150 to Rs 2750/2850 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, in most of the mandis, the business of most of its varieties remained sluggish and the price remained stable. In Bhatpara Mandi of Chhattisgarh, the price of HMT rice fell by Rs 100 to Rs 5600 per quintal, but in Amritsar, Punjab, the price of 1509 Sela and Steam increased by Rs 50-50 per quintal. But in Rajim Mandi, the price of rice of different varieties and categories fell by Rs 150-200 per quintal.
Uttarakhand
Due to the activity of buyers in the Nagar Mandi of Uttarakhand, the price of some varieties of rice increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal. There was also a rise of Rs 100-150 in Bundi Mandi. Similarly, in Naya Bazar of Delhi, the price of rice of most categories increased by Rs 100.
