Paddy prices soften due to limited arrival and weak demand

New Delhi. There is negligible arrival of general category paddy in domestic markets and the supply of Basmati paddy is also limited. The demand of millers and exporters has weakened.
Delhi
As a result, during the week of 9-15 August, some softening in prices was recorded in Delhi's Narela Mandi amid an average daily arrival of 5-7 thousand bags.
Price
Although the price of 1121 paddy increased by Rs 25 to Rs 4200 per quintal, the price of 1509 hand fell by Rs 75 to Rs 2925 per quintal and the price of 1847 fell by Rs 100 to Rs 2900 per quintal. In Bhatpara and Rajim Mandi of Chhattisgarh, 6000-7000 bags and 5000-6000 bags of paddy arrived daily respectively but due to limited business, the price remained stable.
Uttar Pradesh
In Shahjahanpur Mandi of Uttar Pradesh, 1500-2000 bags of paddy are arriving daily but the price of 1121 and PR 13 is stuck at Rs. 1600/2100 and Rs. 1500/2000 per quintal respectively.
Rajasthan
In Bundi Mandi of Rajasthan, the arrival of paddy has reduced considerably but despite this, during the week of 9-15 August, the price of 1509 paddy fell by Rs. 75 to Rs. 2900/2950 per quintal and the price of 1847 paddy fell by Rs. 100 to Rs. 2800/2900 per quintal.
Rice
As far as rice is concerned, India remained at the previous level due to normal or less business in most of the mandis, which include Bhatpara, Raichur, Amritsar, Rajim, Nagar (Uttarakhand) and Bundi etc.
Haryana
In Haryana's benchmark Karnal Mandi, the price of some varieties of rice fluctuated by Rs 50-75 per quintal. In Delhi's Naya Bazar too, prices of almost all varieties and categories of rice remained stable.
