Prices have fluctuated due to strong arrivals of new paddy in several markets.

New Delhi. Kharif paddy, especially 1509 Pusa Basmati rice, has begun receiving strong arrivals in important markets in major producing states, and trading is satisfactory, resulting in a fairly stable price with limited fluctuations. It is worth noting that there is no Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Basmati rice, so its price fluctuations depend solely on market forces.
Delhi
During the week from September 27 to October 3, daily arrivals of paddy at Delhi's Narela Mandi increased to 60,000 bags, and due to good trading, the price of 1509 combined paddy improved by Rs. 50 to Rs. 2955 per quintal. Najafgarh Mandi also received 4,000 bags of paddy on September 29. Meanwhile, 4,000-5,000 bags of paddy are being supplied daily to Bhatpara and Rajim markets in Chhattisgarh, and prices remain fairly stable.
Punjab/Amritsar
One lakh bags of paddy arrived in Amritsar, Punjab on September 27th and one and a quarter lakh bags on September 29th, but the quantity later declined to around 60,000 bags. Approximately 70,000 bags of paddy are arriving at Tarn Taran market. The price of 1509 paddy there has fallen by Rs 100 to Rs 2,700/3,080 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
The arrival of paddy is steadily increasing in Etah, Mainpuri, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, and Dibai in Uttar Pradesh. New paddy has also started arriving in some markets in Haryana. As for general category paddy, the new supply season began on October 1, 2025, but there is some delay in harvesting the new crop in Punjab. The process may begin soon, provided the weather remains clear.
Rice
As far as rice prices are concerned, a mixed trend is being observed. During the week under review, HMT and Shri Ram rice prices in Bhatpara declined by Rs. 100 per quintal. However, in Amritsar, Punjab, prices of 1509 Sela and Steam rice increased by Rs. 50 each.
Uttarakhand
Due to weak demand from traders in the Uttarakhand Nagar Mandi, the price of 1509 Steam rice declined by Rs. 250 to Rs. 6650 per quintal, and the price of 1509 Sela rice fell by Rs. 450 to Rs. 5950 per quintal. Rice prices in Rajasthan's Bundi Mandi also declined by Rs. 100-300 per quintal.
