Good Arrivals and Weak Demand Lead to Soft Peanut Prices in Uttar Pradesh
New Delhi. Peanuts are receiving good arrivals in markets across major producing states, but trading is normal or subdued. During the week of February 7-13, peanut prices in Gujarat's Rajkot market rose by ₹225 to ₹6,000/₹9,225 per quintal with average daily arrivals of 10,000-15,000 bags. However, prices in Uttar Pradesh (UP) markets declined by ₹400-₹450 per quintal. Prices in Jhansi and Mahoba fell by ₹400 each, while Mauranipur saw a decline of ₹450 per quintal.
Peanuts
However, due to strong demand from oil millers and exporters, prices for shelled peanuts rose by ₹400 in Bikaner to ₹9,800-₹10,400 per quintal. However, weak demand at higher prices in Solapur, Maharashtra, led to a softening of prices. In Nagpur, prices remained stable with normal trading.
Peanut Oil
Loose peanut oil prices remained firm, with good demand from traders. Peanut oil prices rose by ₹50 to ₹1,750 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar, Gujarat. The price of a 15 kg tin of oil increased by ₹60 to ₹2,770. Prices remained slightly higher in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, while prices remained soft in Bikaner and Newai/Tonk.
Branded Oil/Filtered Oil
Branded peanut oil prices fell by ₹50 in Kota, bringing the price down to ₹2,800 per tin (15 liters). Filtered peanut oil prices in Jaipur and Newai fluctuated by ₹20-30 per 10 kg. Peanut exports are performing well.
